When developers or business analysts are asked to generate reports for others in the enterprise, the most commonly requested format is the spreadsheet. The process of writing a query and then getting the desired results into an .xls or .xslx file requires using multiple applications and can be tedious. In this version of Aqua Data Studio we've made it easier to get results into formats that end-users can view with a Quick Excel button and Excel 2007 support.
Excel 2007 is now available as an option in "Save Results As" or "View as Spreadsheet", and as a format for generating Pivot Grid and Pivot Grid Charts. Files can be saved as .xls or as .xlsx. Anywhere you can generate Excel results or use the View in Excel Viewer feature within the application you can now select which version of Excel (2003 or 2007) you would like for your output from within File -> Options - > General -> General -> Default Spreadsheet Format.
