Connection Monitor

The new all-in-one Connection Monitor tool in Aqua Data Studio version 18.0 offers the ability to ping database connections on a periodic basis, refresh results in your Query Window at a specified interval, and turn on auto-commit after the idle threshold is exceeded. You can view a list of monitored connections via Aqua Data Studio Menu Bar > Tools > Connection Monitor.

Ping Idle Connections

Ping Idle Connections prevent network firewalls from terminating your idle database connections too soon. The connection monitor pings your connection by calling the JDBC driver's Connection.isValid() API after it has been idle for a specified interval. The ping status can be viewed on the Status Bar of the Query Window.

Execute Query Window

Execute Query Window allows connection monitor to periodically refresh results in your Query Window based on the specified interval.

Auto-Commit Monitoring

Auto-Commit Monitoring monitors Query Window connections with Auto-Commit disabled to prevent open transactions from accidentally locking your database resources. If the auto-commit disabled rollback threshold is exceeded, connection monitor enables auto-commit. You can also configure a warning reminder that the connection monitor will display before it turns on auto-commit. You may use the snooze feature to delay turning on auto-commit.
