Diff and Compare Enhancements

Aqua Data Studio version 18.0 offers a smarter difference engine and an improved UI to simplify your diff related tasks. The enhanced difference engine offers a new highlighting mode to specify how differences are highlighted. The improved UI supports syntax highlighting, customizable editor settings, collapsing unchanged fragments and more. A brand new Directory Compare interface allows you to not only compare the directory content but also synchronize the content of your directories.

File, Tab, Copy, and ER Modeler Compare

This release offers users an improved UI and additional flexibility on viewing and comparing results.

Syntax Highlighting

The diff viewer now uses the same syntax highlighting as you have configured for your individual editors.

Ignore Policy

The Ignore Policy options let you define how the difference engine should treat white spaces in the text and controls case sensitive behavior.

Highlighting Mode

The new highlighting mode feature lets you specify how the difference engine calculates and highlights granularity differences.

Editor Settings

Quickly show or hide line numbers, indentation guides, white spaces, and soft wraps.

Collapse Unchanged Fragments

Easily view the differences in large files by collapsing all unchanged code fragments in both editors. On mouse hover, view the collapsed code in a tooltip.

Synchronize Scrolling

Synchronize scrolling offers the ability to scroll both editor panes simultaneously. 

Viewer Type

View files side-by-side or in a single pane.

Line Separators

If a difference in line separators is detected, the toolbar shows the line separator used by each file.

Directory Compare

Significant enhancements have been added to the Directory Compare including synchronizing your directory content, new compare by options, and an improved filter UI.

Compare By and Synchronization 

This version gives you the ability to compare files based on their size, content or timestamp. Using our new synchronization controls, you can synchronize selected files or all files between two folders.

Using Filters to Refine Compare Results

Use the toolbar buttons to narrow the set of files to show. In addition, filter the filenames by entering a search string.

Change Folders to Compare

Easily change directories or folders to compare without leaving the directory compare interface.

Version History Compare

The new compare next and previous file icons () allow users to navigate between files.
