Hi Joanne,
Sorry for the delay... Were you able to get the server started?
Thanks, Tom
Tom, Yes. I have been able to get connected using IE directly instead of file explorer. It's still a mystery to me why that changed, but since we have a workaround I am satisfied.
I have, however, run into another issue. Originally we were running AQStudio and AQServer on an older version, and as we upgraded the older folders were removed to reclaim space. The last time we did that we apparently lost a custom synchronization script created when we worked with one of your support people on this issue: https://www.aquaclusters.com/app/home/project/public/aquadatastudio/issue/10497
Can you help me to recreate this synchronization of our server inventory in AQ Studio to AQ Server ?

Hi Joanne,
Issue 10497 fixed the loading of the project tree about five years ago. There is no mention of a sync script other than what is in the issue. We can try to recreate the script if you can give me details on how it worked.
Thanks, Tom

I have been able to sync my project from Studio to AQ Server, but the Workspace doesn't include the project contents. When I attempt to manually import I see the attached errors

Hi Joanne,
When you use Aqua Data Studio to export the project, make sure that you include Aquascript, Servers and User Files folders in this menu. It looks like one of those is missing from your project. Aqua Data Server is expecting all three.
Hope that helps,
Tom

Thank you. I am getting closer :) I have successfully exported my project from AQ Studio and imported to AQ Server. But my sync is still not working. It runs without error, but the Server list is not getting updated in the AQ Server project.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Aqua Data Studio 18.0 - 32bit\runfluidscript-bundled.bat "-fsync.fs"

Hi Joanne,
Do you see the server in the server list? Did you add the password for the server connection? Edit the server then add the password by first clicking on "Save Password"
When you manually run your script, do you see any results or console output messages?
Let me know if that works?
Thanks,
Tom

I have over a thousand servers registered. Do I need to do this for each one ?

Sorry. This doesn't make sense to me. The whole purpose of the sync is to have the ability to keep our AQ Server inventory up-to-date with our AQ Studio inventory without manual intervention. Could the issue be the account we use to register our AQ Studio connections ? The account in the connection files is not the same as our admin account for AQ Server.

Hi Joanne,
I think you are talking about adding the password?? Unfortunately, we have to do the password add for security reasons. Once the server connection is established, you will not have to update the password again unless it is changed on the database server. From our documetation here.
NOTE: DB Server passwords are stored in an encrypted format in Aqua Data Studio's .conn file. When you import a DB connection, the DB Server password is not saved. Instead, you need to edit the imported server and specify the password again.
Typically, most users only use a few connections in a project so adding the password is not to bad.
Perhaps, you can give me more information about what you are syncing. Maybe there is another way to do it?
Thanks, Tom

I use AQ Studio to maintain an inventory of our live servers. We have several hundred of these and the inventory of servers is in continuous flux with new builds & decomission's going on constantly. This project is used to generate daily reports against the existing server inventory. We purchased AQ Server a few years ago to allow us to run these scheduled projects and it was working before we upgraded from version 16.0. We now have AQ Studio v18.0 & AQ Server v18.5. The user account and password for virtually all of the registered servers in AQ Studio are the same. How do I import both into AQ Server each day so the report will work ?

Aside from my issue with the password, my \projectdeploy is not syncing the AQ Server project. I get no errors, but this appears to be doing nothing:

Hi Joanne,
Are you sure that the path is correct in your projectdeploy parameters? C:\Program Files (x86)\Aqua Data Server 18.5 - 32bit This should be the path for the Aqua Data Studio project. From our documentation here
-path, --project-path PATH
Fully qualified path of the Aqua Data Studio project folder.
I also noticed that you did not use the -s parameter to sync.
-s, --sync If this option is specified, existing AquaScripts, Servers, and/or User Files in Aqua Data Server will be cleaned up before deploying the project.
The Aqua Data Server account must be a member of the project and have the appropriate permissions to deploy the project. The member must have the 'Import and Deploy Project' permission and appropriate create/edit permissions for AquaScripts, Servers, and/or User Files. If the -s or --sync option is specified, the member must also have delete permissions.
As an example, this worked for me on my local server...
Thanks, Tom

I am getting farther :) Altering the project location and adding quotes seems to have made a big difference.
\projectdeploy -url http://localhost:8082/app/home/project/scheduledtasks/deploy -u admin -p ###### -ia true -is true -iu true -path "C:\Users\sqladmin\.datastudio\projects\ScheduledTasks" -s
With no error from the bad syntax ( no quotes ) around the -path parm it was difficult to troubleshoot. Once I added the quotes, the error messaging was very helpful:

Update: I found a bad environment variable and now the sync is working as expected.. Many thanks for helping to lead me to the conclusion.

Tom, I have run into another silly issue. I have set up a scheduled task to run my new project, but when I try to execute it in Aqua Data Server I get "Unexpected error occurred". I see the following in the log:

Hi Joanne,
Have you tried to run your aquascript manually to see if there are errors? When you scheduled the job, did you select the right script from the selection menu?
Thanks, Tom

I found a bad environment variable in AQ Server set up. After fixing that I deleted & re-imported the project. All is working now with the scheduled job.
