4.2.5 Scheduler

This option allows a user to indicate whether the Scheduler service is started at Aqua Data Server startup. All changes to system settings take effect immediately unless otherwise noted.

Aqua Data Server allows users to execute AquaScripts on a recurring basis. This is done by creating a Job which allows the user to specify the aquascript to execute and the frequency at which it will be executed. Read more about Jobs in the Project: Scheduled Jobs page. The Job Scheduler is the engine which determines when to run the scheduled jobs or AquaScripts. The Job Scheduler is fully multi-threaded. A separate background thread is executed for each job that is executing up to a pre-defined maximum number of threads. If more jobs need to be executed than the number of job threads available, the jobs for which no threads were available will wait in the jobs queue until a thread becomes available.

• Started: Starts scheduler service at Aqua Data Server startup. (Default)
• Stopped: If Stopped, no automated scheduled jobs are executed, and manually executing a scheduled job is also disabled. In addition, once the scheduler is started again, any scheduled jobs that should have been executed while the scheduler was stopped will not be re-run. e.g. If you had a daily scheduled job to run at 10 a.m., and the scheduler was stopped between 9 - 11 am, the next scheduled job would execute on the next day at 10 a.m. This day's scheduled job would be skipped.
