With the latest version of Aqua Data Studio, all five editors are enhanced and now offer one of the most requested features - Block Selection Mode. You can drag a selection rectangle around a single character or multiple columns of characters in the editor by clicking the Block Selection button in the Toolbar. You can copy the block, create a new block and paste the contents. The Editor's block selection feature is very useful for working with the Table Data Editor and Excel Spreadsheets, where you can quickly perform a block copy-paste.
You can quickly highlight and copy words using the Ctrl key and the left mouse button. Holding down the Ctrl (Control) key and the mouse click highlights that text, selecting it. With the control key still held down, the keyboard letter 'C' copies the selection, so you can then insert a cursor caret where you want and paste using keyboard 'V'. This is a quick way to copy and paste words and reduces the mouse clicks by one. This feature works only if the Ctrl key is depressed through the whole process of mouse click selection, copy and pasting.
Text wrapping properties can be set in the Table Data Editor, Grid Results and Pivot Grid Results with the "Line-Wrap" check box. This feature makes it much easier to view and change long character strings.
It's now much easier to tell how many characters of text you have selected within the editors. You can find out the selected character count by looking at the bottom left corner of the editor frame for the number following the colon (:) or mouse hovering the caret position indicator.
You can visually check what type of end-of-line ( EOL ) sequence is being used in the current document: either LF ( Line Feed ) for unix/linux, or CR+LF ( Carriage Return + Line Feed ) for Windows.
To quickly reuse and alter existing Editor Abbreviations, it is now possible to select one and click a Copy button to use its contents with a new Abbreviation.
You can now select lines by clicking an dragging the cursor within the line number area in the sidebar, which extends the selection by full lines. This makes it a lot easier to position the mouse right at the start of a line.
The top of the HTML editor displays the nested HTML elements that contain your caret as you type. To quickly move your caret up the nested elements, click on a displayed element in the Breadcrumb Trail. The Breadcrumb Trail can be enabled within File > Options > HTML Editor.
